Proper Toilet Training

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

One of the greatest joy for parents is to see the children have become self independent and be able to perform most of the activities in their own. One of the hardest tasks that parents find it not enjoyable to do is toilet training. This may be due to it being dirty and smelly for one to engage in. Any child, who gains the ability to walk, tends to get the urge to be clean always and hence would require the parents to be able to know how to teach him/her this issue of toilet training.

When parents engage in toilet training of their children they are going to be faced with a lot of challenges that may make them angry. It is good that you do not show your child that you are angry otherwise the child will be stressed out which may develop into complications in future where he/she will not be able to manage his/her anxiety. If you see your child at a specific age cannot be bale to differentiate between urinating and defecating, you should not be troubled it is normal and he/she is going to learn the difference with time. Moist children are not able to control their bladder habits in there earlier years and it becomes harder when it comes to bowel training, it tends to become even harder.

Others may poop and then start playing with it while others since they do not know poop is bad they are going to start eating the poop, this is normal since they are in the anal stage and they are curious to learn, what you need to do is to explain to the child that this type of behavior is not allowed for them to engage in. don’t be too harsh to the child otherwise it might have adverse consequences in future. You will also notice that for the boys they are going to be peeing in the early years, live them to do that so that they can be able to control their bladders efficiently, but after sometime, request your husband to teach the boy how to urinate while standing. There are those children who value their poop and do not want to see it being flush, if you have such a kid show the kid that poop is not good and they should not be stressed because of it going down the drain.

Keeping Track of the Baby Feeding Schedule

Thursday, November 4th, 2010

Making sure your new baby is getting the right nutrition at all stages of growth is an important part of parenting. Understanding baby’s needs as she rapidly grows can be crucial to her overall wellbeing. From breast milk to formula to solid food, there are many things parents will need to understand when it comes to keeping baby healthy. Keeping track of baby feeding schedules is one of many things parents will need to do.

From birth, baby will need to breastfeed 8 to 12 times a day. Most of the time after the baby is born, she will be either eating or sleeping. This will keep parents busy as they try to get used to the new schedule of parenting. Starting at 3 months of age, she should be eating less, only around 7 to 8 times a day. This means baby will be sleeping for longer stretches, giving parents a much-needed break. At around 4 months, you can expect to add cereal to the breast milk and feed baby’s one to two tablespoons of fruits or vegetables.

Baby will start eating between 5 and 7 times a day at around 6 months of age. Starting at 7 months, parents will be feeding baby more cereal in their breast milk, and in addition to the fruit or vegetable, they can also expect to add meat or protein. Feeding times will go down again between 7 and 12 months as parents continue to get used to baby feeding schedule. At 12 months of age, baby will be eating only 3 to 4 times a day and will need increased levels of solid foods. Keeping baby healthy is crucial to parents, and understand the baby feeding schedule is one of many things that will help parents keep them developing normally.
